Frequently asked questions:

FAQs

We’re both pretty much open books, and we get asked a lot of questions about the gallery, the building, the art, and occasionally... us. So here are answers to a few of the things people ask us most.

How did you get the name Foxville?

Foxville was actually the original name for the town of Burlington!

The first settlers arrived at the confluence of the White and Fox Rivers in 1835, and the growing community was officially named Foxville in 1837. Just two years later, it was renamed Burlington after Burlington, Vermont.

When we learned that little piece of local history, we loved the idea of bringing the name back. It felt like the perfect fit for a gallery that celebrates both where this community has been and what it can become.

For us, The Foxville Gallery is a little nod to Burlington’s beginnings and our way of carving out a small corner of it.

Why Burlington if you live in Kenosha?

Great question. It’s a long story, but the short version is... we just liked it here! There was something about Burlington that felt right to us. We love the downtown, the community, and the history of this beautiful place.

Do you own the building?

We do! We own the east side of the building, including the gallery space, the upstairs apartment, and the basement level.

What’s going on upstairs?

We’re working on The Gallery Loft on Pine, our gallery-inspired short-term rental! The idea is to extend the Foxville experience upstairs, creating a place to stay surrounded by original artwork, much of which will also be available to purchase.

Are you guys married?

Okay, nosy. Nope!

At first, we just never got around to it. Neither of us particularly likes being the center of attention, so a wedding was never very high on our priority list. Then, after enough years together, we realized we’re actually just really happy being together!

For us, there’s something pretty special about waking up every day and choosing to be on each other’s team simply because we want to be.

Are you looking for artists?

Absolutely. Always!

We’re constantly interested in discovering new artists and new work. We’re especially drawn to authentic, narrative-driven work and artists with a strong point of view.

We are currently accepting proposals for solo and duo exhibitions. If you think your work might be a good fit for Foxville, we’d love to hear from you! You can submit a proposal to amy@thefoxville.com.
